Not sure where this topic should go but here it is. I've collected all of the items, have all three chapters, quests done to get where I need to go, gold, materials and the other essentials to craft the Moa Chick except one ( ZHO's BOOK ) now here's the kicker.

Being somewhat of a role player I already had a book on my ranger and thought the book was used just for clues and I decided to delete one of the books I had. Yes..... my warrior had the book but when deleting the book, Yep You guessed it I deleted the warriors book that was in my stash and not the rangers. So now I'm stuck begging Katherine to talk to me but alas without a book ( your own customized copy ) she won't talk with you. I can verify that

Is there any possible way to get that book again ? and is this an issue the developers should be made aware of ? It's a hard item to acquire and actually this one was meant to be a gift for another ( Ranger still has his ) but shouldn't this be something we can reverse or at least have to fight Zho again to re-acquire the book ( tried that doesn't work ) ? It is after all only usable once per character. My own stupid mistake and I'll pay for it but perhaps this is something others should be made aware of.

Far as I'm aware, nope. Zho doesn't give another book. And you can't get the kit without the book.

Think your only option is to buy one off someone.

Haven't actually looked at these books to see if they're customized or not, but I'd be happy to donate one of mine if they can be transferred. I'll add you to my fl, Lord Feathers.

They are customized. But if you dont currently have one and have not used one should it give you another? Like being able to obtain full stacks of teddy bears and such?

Zho's Journal

Your clues are all located in Zho's Journal, obtained from defeating Zho in The Norn Fighting Tournament

To obtain the Incubator Kit needed to hatch your Black Moa Chick, talk to Captain Juno in Cavalon. She will send you to Katharine in Gyala Hatchery (Explorable) who will then give you an incubator kit in exchange for 50 Spiritwood Planks, 10 Steel Ingots, and 5Platinum. The kit is customized to the crafter and only one may be obtained per character. You need Zho's Journal to acquire this item.

Incubator Items

You'll need Nesting Material from the collector, Nuwisha in southern Resplendent Makuun for 5 Skree Wings. These Nesting Materials are fragile and cannot be dropped or traded.
You must make a Hardened Moa Egg by bringing a normal Moa Egg, found in one of the nests south of Fort Ranik, to Mourning Veil Falls.
A Volcanic Rock from northeastern Perdition Rock.
A Herring from the collector (Gruhn the Fisher) in western Twin Serpent Lakes for 5 Bog Skale Fins.
A Branch of Juni Berries from feeding Chuno during the quest Insatiable Appetite out in Marga Coast.
A Honeycomb, a quest reward from the Eye of the North quest A Hunter's Pride, or from Galton Franks for 8 Stone Grawl Necklaces.

Once all items are put into the incubator (double-click on the incubator to bring out a small window and drag each ingredient into it), take The Final Assault quest and travel to Sorrow's Furnace. Use this quest to blast your way into the central furnace. Allow yourself to be hit by the Sorrow's Flame, and the kit and all its components will be replaced with the Black Moa Chick.

One character must gather both the incubator kit and the nesting materials. Only that character can get the chick.

It only seems possible to get Zho's Journal once with each character. You don't get a second Journal with the same character, even if you haven't bought an Incubator Kit yet.

I am aware of that. He said he has a book from Zho on his ranger, having accidentally deleted the Warrior's book instead of the ranger's so why not just use his ranger to aquire the mini pet? The incubater is customized yes, but the mini pet itself isn't customized so I don't see why it matters which character you use to get it. If he has a book on his Ranger, use the Ranger to get it.

well since he decided to delete his book there's noway we know off that he can get the book on his warrior. I take it he wants to have another mini chick. Either for keeps, or selling.

My bad, I read the OP wrong. Do you have any characters other than your Ranger/Warrior that can get the mini?

i believe that they intended the quest to function such that each character could only obtain 1 black moa chick. so, they make it so you only get 1 journal.

this is most likely done this way to prevent people from circumventing the limitation of 1 per character by pulling some shenanigans such as stashing books away in xunlai storage or on other characters, which you KNOW people would do, and then they'd get 30 of the damn things and they wouldn't be very special anymore, would they?

they could try to tweak the quest such that it would give you another journal if you
a) didn't have one for that character in inventory, xunlai, or on any alts;
b) hadn't completed the black moa chick quest (PLAYERFLAG_BLACKMOACHICK_OBTAINED = FALSE);
c) beat zho in the arena again.

however, players would still try to pull ridiculous shenanigans by getting their friends to hold their journal(s), or putting them on alt accounts, so they'd still try to cheat the system. because if it's possible, players are going to be jackasses and do it. So the quest probably has to be as it is if you want the black moa chick to be unique at all.

Unfortunately, this does also mean that there's no easy way to help people who accidentally deleted their journal -- they're just kinda screwed. This is why I've made sure to keep GWEN quest items in char inv and not try to store them in xunlai, so things don't get cross-pollinated and messed up.

You might submit a petition to customer support, but i wouldn't expect much.

....Guys, the book and incubator are customized, but the Miniature Black Moa is -not-. No point in him deleting and remaking his warrior, sheesh. >_> He could just use another character to get it, then pass it to his Warrior. Or something along those lines.

And yeah...that sucks, I'm sure he wanted to actually do all the work on his warrior, not another character, but meh...as another poster said, they can't really be more lenient about this because then people would find ways to abuse/exploit it just to be jerks. Sorry, Feathers...looks like you'll have to use another character to get it (Ranger or whatever), or buy it from a player (which I get the feeling isn't really what you want to do since you mentioned roleplaying).

Antheus, your post has nothing to do with this, it's off-topic, this isn't a rant about "account based vs. character based" stuff. >_>

I like the idea of a quest requiring all campaigns to complete it. I am really interested in that type of quests added to the game in the future. [business man on] This could force people to buy all campaigns [business man off]
